Organic Latex
Mattress - The Talalay Process
Compounding
Natural latex is extracted from the tropical rubber tree and
mixed with man-made latexes, soaps and rubber curing agents in
a temperature-controlled, stainless steel tank. Ph, viscosity
and temperature are closely monitored.
Molding
The compound mix is then transferred to another room where it
is whipped to a consistency of soft serve ice cream. It
is then injected into a core mold. The mold is sealed and
a vacuum is pulled to extract air and completely fill the mold
cavity with latex.
The latex is
chilled at minus 20 Fahrenheit. Freezing, and this is
unique to the Talalay process, prevents particles from settling
and ensures a consistent cell structure.
Carbon dioxide is
then introduced to gel the latex. The mold is then heated to
220 Fahrenheit to cure the core. state.
The mattress is
then washed, dried and prepared for shipment.
